All safes without certified fire protection are only conditionally resistant, offer limited fire protection due to their fire fold, but are not fireproof. Fire protection safes with 30 minutes of fire protection offer resistance for these 30 minutes against fire, heat, fumes and splash water. A distinction is made whether it is paper or data carriers (CDs, DVDs, USB sticks, memory sticks etc.). The label P indicates on paper, DIS stands for data carrier. The fire safe is marked with the certificate, a badge which shows which test the safe was subjected to.

The UL test (for paper)
A safe with 30 minutes fire protection is subjected to the so-called UL test. UL stands for Underwriters Laboratory. The safe is placed in a special furnace at 843 ° C and the internal temperature remains below 177 ° C for half an hour.
Only the safe that survives this test without damage is given the designation fireproof Safe with fire protection for 30 minutes.
